“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita. Did she have a precursor? She did, indeed she did. In point of fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one summer, an initial girl-child. In a princedom by the sea. Oh when? About as many years before Lolita was born as my age was that summer. You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns.”
― Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita
Being real is all about being unique and authentic. Real things and people are always valued for the real things that they have to offer. Reality is something that is always praised. Being real makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd and get noticed. Each one of us craves for appreciation. Being real is something that provides you some noteworthy appreciation and recognition. The challenge for people is to always come up with things that are novel and innovative. There is a huge difference between the real and reel things. Real people always get noticed and succeed in life at a much faster pace. So, focus on being real and authentic and you’ll certainly have success dancing at your feet. According to James Baldwin, “If you’re treated a certain way, you become a certain kind of person. If certain things are described to you as being real they’re real for you whether they’re real or not.”
There is nothing we like to communicate to others as much as the seal of secrecy together with what lies under it. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
“There’s a calm surrender to the rush of day, when the heat of the rolling world can be turned away an enchanted moment, and it sees me through, it’s enough for this restless warrior just to be with you” ~Elton John
A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease. ~John Muir
